Bendigo Bank originally started the unique Community Bank model when the ‘Big 4’ were closing branches in smaller communities, leaving these towns without banking services. So how do you get a community to support a bank and renew their confidence in banking? Get them to own it! And return serious money back to these communities in the form of sponsorships and community grants. Nearly 400 Bendigo Community Bank Branches later and with over $250 million (and growing) returned to these communities, the network of Bendigo Community Banks is growing. So the FIFTH largest Banking group in Australia is showing a clean pair of heels! And locally, we saw a need to open the Blackheath Agency when services left the village. This opened at the Blackheath Newsagency in 2019 and now we are working in partnership with Blaxland Day and Night Pharmacy to open another Agency in January 2021! PLEASE support these Agencies as this is what will help them to grow and we can get more support back to our Villages. We find it very exciting and hope that you do too.
